Tail Pulling

Today I just wanted to post a profound quote by President Packer that I heard recently. He said, "When you pull the tail of the devil, he likes to spit a little fire." The visual in my head is almost funny, but I'll let you ponder on the deeper meaning. What a great quote.

Adventure in the Dorms

Just in case you're wondering what this is a picture of, it's our bathroom. The light burned out. So, now every time we need to shower, or wash our face, or do whatever else, it's in complete darkness...almost. I have a flashlight, but the batteries are dying, so it's a little better, but still dark enough to bump into things. So far, none of us have bruises that are too bad; we'll see how that goes in the next couple days, or months, depending on when maintenance chooses to come. This whole dorm experience sure is an adventure, though. Someone definitely has a sense of humor in the way they choose to humble us: a tub with a clogged drain that filled drop by drop until it had 1 1/2 feet of water in it, a couple days where the water turned off without notice and the toilet flushed by itself (that one scared me), and now the broken light. Too bad it's fluorescent soffit lighting using a luminous panel (thank you Interior Design 102). If it was a regular light bulb we might have a chance, but I think some people have just too much fun answering phone calls from freshmen girls who have absolutely no light in their bathroom.

Happy Birthday Spencer!!

This post is dedicated to Spencer. Today he turned 12 and I want him to know that I'm so proud of him! He's such a smart, hilarious boy that really has a light to share with everyone. If you know Spencer, you know how much he enjoys talking about the latest thing his brilliant mind has thought up. Being at college, I really miss talking to him and playing with him. He's a bright spot in my life plus he's such a wonderful person. I love you, Spencer!
