Freshmen Orientation, Again?
This past week was a busy one. I moved into my new apartment, I worked, and I volunteered as a Y-Group Leader for New Student Orientation. This means that I was responsible for a group of about 20 freshmen for three days. What an experience! It started on Tuesday when I went through a day of training and met my partner. At this training I learned that BYU prays about each student by name before they are admitted. BYU also ranks third on the list for using the most church funding. I suddenly felt like I should be a lot more responsible than I am, but it's incredible to think that I'm going to a debt-free university and to have the feeling confirmed again that I really am supposed to be here. The rest of the week was just fun and games and tours and devotionals with all of the freshmen. They are such a great group of young adults and they made my week. How can I not be happy when they're so excited to be here that they'll roll down the hill by the library with me, and play funny games like 'Ninja', and then be able to settle down and give some really profound insight into the type of people we should be? What a wonderful week. BYU is definitely the place for me to be.

Lagoon!
Yesterday, the family went to Lagoon with Grandma Gail and met up with my mom's sister, Doni, and her kids. What a fun day! I'd been to Lagoon once before, but the only memory I have is of the old white roller coaster. It was the first roller coaster I'd ever been on and I remember being so scared I couldn't get enough air to scream on the way down. Yesterday was a little different.Later in the day, my mom's sister and her kids met us and we went on more of the "big-kid" rides. One of the best rides was Wicked, which shoots you straight, and I mean straight, up and then goes over a tiny arch before you come straight down and into the rest of the roller coaster. I thought going down would be the worst, but being shot up, not knowing if you'd fall backwards or go right off the coaster was definitely more frightening. My other favorite was called the Samuri and I don't exactly know how to describe it. It basically takes you around in circles, three different ways. It's kind of like the moon, which is spinning, orbiting the earth, which is orbiting the sun. (Sorry, that's the best example I have.) Anyway, I was having walking problems when I got off, but it was one of the best rides of the park.
Like all the adds say, Lagoon-The Fun Starts Here!

Funny Girls
Today I was just thinking about the movie Funny Girl and then my mind wandered to all the really funny girls that I know in my own life. So here are some stories/example that will hopefully make you smile.
1. I learned that a girl at work doesn't eat anything blue. No blue M & M's, no blue jello, but I guess blueberries are okay because she says they look purple. Anyway, my first thought was, "Does she ever brush her teeth?"
2. Yesterday, I looked on my grandma's kitchen counter and saw a tennis racket that looked a little unusual. When I looked closer at the handle I found out it was not a tennis racket I had almost picked up; it was a High Voltage Bug Zapper.
3. There are many more I'm thinking of now, but most are too embarassing to share, so I'll end with a quote from the movie, Funny Girl. (For those of you who haven't seen it yet, by the way, it's a great one.) Fanny Brice: You think beautiful girls are going to stay in style forever? I should say not! Any minute now they're going to be out! Finished! Then it'll be my turn!

Grandma Gail's Garden
Well, I moved back to Utah earlier this past Monday and started working on Tuesday. It's so good to be on campus again; it feels like I'm coming home. But I'm not quite able to move into my apartment yet, so I'm staying with my Grandma Gail for two more weeks. She has a gorgeous backyard and I love to enjoy it while I still can. Since it's so pretty, (and because I love to take flower pictures) I thought I'd share a little bit of her garden with you. Enjoy!
